Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has finally come out and issued his stand over the ongoing evictions in the Mau forest.
The vocal Jubilee MP has defended the Mau people who are being evicted from the area said to have been forest part.
Sudi on Friday took to his official Facebook account where he termed the eviction as a violation of human rights as most people in the area have been subjected to brutality by officers conducting the exercise.
"What is happening along Mau Forest is the violation of Human Rights. People are suffering, no food, no shelter and children are no longer going to school. I stand with Kenyans who were evicted from Mau without any notice and relocation," said Sudi in his post.
This comes after a section of Rift Valley legislators led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen termed the operation as political.
Murkomen was speaking to evictees at Koitoben in Melelo ward, Narok South constituency on Thursday where he was accompanied by nine other MPs.
"There are some people who recently joined the government through the backdoor and are working with some government officials to remove people from Mau," Murkomen said.
The Senate majority leader further urged the residents to return to their homes saying the government will take care of their needs.
"I don’t want to hear anybody saying that he has been sent by the government to remove people from their farms. I am speaking on behalf of the government," Murkomen noted.
