Police officers in Nyamira County have arrested a 21-year-old man who allegedly attacked his mother.
Nyamira County commissioner Amos Mariba confirmed the arrest of Robert Masira Ondoro.
Masira is accused of attacking his mother Monica Bochere Ondoro last week in Matongo village, West Mugirango constituency in Nyamira County.
The mother succumbed to injuries at Moi Teaching and Referral hospital in Eldoret Uasin Gishu County.
Mariba said the suspect who fled after the incident was successfully traced by police officers with the help of members of the public.
"The suspect is being held at Nyamira police station as investigations continue. He will be arraigned in court anytime starting tomorrow, Tuesday to be charged over murder," said Mariba as reported by Egesa FM.
The commissioner revealed that the suspect in the past was threatening to kill his mother for reasons neighbors could not tell.
He warned local youths against attacking their parents saying local government authorities won't tolerate young people assaulting parents.
"In my tenure as commissioner in Nyamira I will not condone youths attacking parents. Masira will be sent to jail to serve as an example to the rest of the people fond of attacking parents," he added.
