Police in Kilifi have arrested wife to one of the suspects believed to have been among gunmen who abducted an Italian aid worker, Silvia Romania, in Chakama village near Malindi, Kilifi County, last week.
During the Tuesday night's attack, five people were shot and one person abducted after gunmen attacked Chakama Trading Centre, about 80 kilometres west of Malindi.
The eight gunmen armed with AK 47 rifles fired indiscriminately at residents and further abducted 23-year-old Italian lady who is a volunteer of Africa Milele Onlus, an NGO operating in the area and proceeded towards Magarini area.

Coast Regional Coordinator Bernard Leparamarai, said Halima Adan, is believed to be the wife to one of the suspects, Said Adan Abdi.
She was reportedly arrested up on Sunday evening at around 5pm as authorities intensify the search and rescue for the missing Italian aid worker, one week now.
Addressing the press in Garsen, Leparamai said Halima Adan was arrested in Tarasaa alongside Abdi's in-law and had been locked up for interrogations with an aim of helping the police in tracing the victim and suspects behind the attack.

During the time of her arrest, Halima had a two-week old baby.
She was also in constant communication with her husband according to the Coast police boss.
