Prof Laban Ayiro was on Friday installed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Daystar University.
Ayiro becomes the fourth VC of the institution.
Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana was the guest of honour during the ceremony at the university's campus in Nairobi.
Daystar University chairman Dr Macmillan Kiiru was also present during the installation.
Kibwana has congratulated Prof Ayiro following the new appointment.
The county boss, who made history for being the first governor to get a clean audit report, said Ayiro is a perfect candidate for the post.
“Congratulations Prof. Laban Ayiro upon your installation as the 4th VC of Daystar University. The transformation we see today from a small institute that trained Christian communicators to a full-fledged University is a clear pointer to Daystar’s conviction and resolve about its vision,” said Kibwana in a tweet.
Ayiro lost the contest to take over Moi University as the Vice Chancellor.
From September 2016 until March 2018, Ayiro served in an acting capacity as the VVC of the institution.
Born in Kibera Nairobi, Ayiro has vast experience in the field of education.
He got his first Bachelor of Education Degree from McGill University, in Canada. He is also a holder of a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from Kenyatta University.
