Thousands of worshippers had congregated in Kisumu to usher in new Archdiocese leader Philip Anyolo who formally took over from Zaccheous Okoth after four decades at the helm.

In his speech, Raila almost confused the gathering with with a funeral ceremony with some of his utterances sending those present into laughter.

"Tuanakuombea Mungu akusaidie wewe. Endelea kuunganisha watu wetu vile ulipofanya ukiwa Homa Bay. Tuanakuombea ulale mahali pe.... Mungu asaidie wewe. Tuko pamoja," he said, almost mentioning the term Rest In Peace.

The function was temporarily interfered earlier after host Governor Peter Nyong'o fell I'll and was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu for specialised treatment.

Mr Odinga also shared podium with his chief critic William Ruto and both leaders called for sobriety from amongst leaders over the ongoing succession battles.
