West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio has noted that the ongoing graft whispers against Deputy President William Ruto will surely decide his fate in his approaching 2022 bid.
Speaking on Radio Jambo’s ‘Mazungumzo Waziwazi’ on Monday evening, the leader said that Ruto will have to work extra hard to clear himself from the claims, which, however, remain unproved.
Citing the DP’s generosity and weekly donations in churches and fundraisers, Poghisio observed that the same is likely to raise suspicion over his income sources, considering that the money he dishes out does not correspond with his known income.
Failure to this, he said, Kenyans will suspect him, consequently moving away from him in fear that he might indeed be involved in theft of public coffers as is claimed by his critics led by opposition activist Miguna Miguna and lead the nation astray.
‘’Ruto anawatisha wakenya ambao sasa wangependa kujua anakotoa hizi pesa, hasa wakati huu ambao vita vimechacha dhidi ya ufisadi. Huenda ikawa ana wadhamini tusiowajua lakini lazima ataulizwa. (he is scaring Kenyans and will have to explain his sources ultimately),’’ said the former Cabinet Minister.
Similar concerns earlier raised by the opposition brigade led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga were shot down by the DP who said that he is investing in heaven.
