A somber mood engulfed Ujimbe village in Gem Constituency, Siaya County on Saturday during the burial of Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Journalist Lillian Otieno.

She was a KBC reporter based in Kisumu. Journalists from several Kisumu based media houses and beyond attended the burial, with those who worked close to her terming her a dedicated servant of good journalism.

Ms Otieno Lillian Otieno died on the 22nd of last month while receiving treatment at the Victoria Hospital in Kisumu.

She had been rushed to hospital a few days before her death after complaining of severe headache. Doctors had recommended that she goes for other tests to establish whether the headache was being caused by meningitis.

Before joining KBC in 2012, the veteran journalist worked for Radio Sahara, Radio Namlolwe and Radio Lake Victoria in Kisumu.

She also served as GBS TV reporter based in Kisumu. Ms Otieno leaves behind a husband and five children.

On Tuesday, April 02, 2019, Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o led a section of county officials and journalists in a minute silence in honor of the late Lillian Otieno.

She died aged 41 years old having been born in 1978. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
