Deputy President William Ruto is considered a frontrunner in the approaching 2022 presidential race.

However, here are some of his allies who are unknowingly killing his bid which appears strong in the meantime;

Samson Cherargei

The Nandi Senator is one of the sharp critics of anti-Ruto forces and never hesitates to hit out at people he considers against his 2022 presidential bid. However, he is overdoing it and has severally been heard attacking the nation's most respected leaders, including opposition chief Raila Odinga.

This, to many Kenyans, amounts to disrespect to the veteran leader and it might negatively reflect on Ruto's performance in 2022 as people keep away from supporting him.

"The jury is out. The Nasa leader is using the handshake to resurrect his weakening political career by creating a moribund and ineffective agenda such as the Building Bridges Initiatives and an unnecessary referendum. These are aimed at making him stay afloat politically and relevant to his supporters, that's why he can't hold on to a specific position,” Cherargei was quoted by the Nation in December.

Most people would wonder; if he is this vicious yet Ruto is yet to make it, and the DP remains silent, then what would happen if he (Ruto) wins? Wouldn't the insults worsen?

Kipchumba Murkomen

Just like Cherargei, the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator is unknowingly spoiling it for Ruto and is also known for his many attacks to Raila and his allies. This too might deny the DP the support he needs, considering that Raila is a known freedom fighter who participated in the push for multiparty democracy in the 90s.

Therefore, attacks from younger leaders who never participated in any liberation push might be negative to the DP who, equally, was not around for the push.
