In 2015, Kenyans were left in shock after two men from Mombasa agreed to marry the same woman.
The men reportedly agreed to take turns to stay with the woman and assist her raise her children. The woman, who was later identified as Joyce Wambui, was ready to get married to Sylvester Mwendwa and Elijah Kimani.
The two men said that they had no problem sharing the woman. Mwendwa, 26, said that they had agreed to end their rivalry for a happy marriage.
According to Mwendwa, the move would have created boundaries between them for peaceful co-existence.
“It could have been very dangerous if the other man would have come to her house and caught me," he said.
"So our agreement is good as it sets boundaries and helps us keep peace."
Mwendwa also said that he loved her because of her hardworking nature.
"It's not because she is a superwoman, but because she is a hard worker and very beautiful."
But Abdhallah Abdulrahman, a community policing officer, said that he was left without words after the men agreed to take the woman as their wife.
The move, however, did not augur well with a section of Kenyans who attributed the same to witchcraft.
