As the 2022 general elections approach, a section of politicians in the North Rift region bearing the 'rebel' tag will have no option but to tore the line of Deputy President William Ruto.
A political analyst Joseph Kogei holds the assertion that Jubilee elected leaders in DP Ruto's backyard will have to seek reelection using the party ticket or any party that will be formed before 2022.
“DP’s presidential candidacy is a tragedy to a section of people who will attempt to use the alternative existing party to seek various slots. Ruto’s foray will submerge them as people will favour a party that their kingpin is in,” Kogei said.
He further said the fate of DP’s critics is hanging in balance among them are Cherang’any Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny and his counterparts Silas Tiren (Moiben) and Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills) as they will be forced to fight within the party.
“Other parties that are known will not have a soft landing, democracy will be limited since people will be more focused to the race for the highest office in the land,” noted Kogei.
DP Ruto has made it clear that he will be in the race to stat house and his Rift Valley backyard is expected to fully back him despite dissenting views from his critics who allege he ignored crucial issues including farmers’ plight.
