Last minute attempts to reach former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka in March to explain to him about handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta failed miserably, ODM leader Raila Odinga has claimed.
Facing rebellion from a section of his Ukambani supporters, Odinga told a gathering in Mavoko on Monday that Kalonzo had switched off his phone and did not reply thereafter.
"The handshake is for all of us. We had to look for a way to put our country back on track after the tough political season.
"I tried to reach Kalonzo, his phone was switched off. He didn't call back when he opened it but he can even cencede I did call," said Raila as supporters burst into laughter.
Mr. Odinga also insisted that he tried to reach ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi but he was at Wilson Airport thus the two could not discuss about a meeting with Uhuru at Harambee House.
In recent months, a section of NASA leaders have accused Raila of sidelining them in deal with Uhuru.
"He is egocentric and doesn't want other people to be included. We have known his ways," fired Moses Wetangula.
At the Mavoko function, Kalonzo said he fully supports the handshake adding that those disinterested should contemplate changing their perception.
Deputy President William Ruto has lately accused Raila of hiding in handshake to distabilize Jubilee party.
