Speaking on Thursday to Hivisasa on phone Mulatya admitted that the residents have counted losses due to the invasion by the elephants.

He assured the residents that an electrie fence will be put around the park to deter the elephants from invading their farms.

However, he said they have to wait a little bit longer until the coming financial year before this is done.

"Yes I know my people have been suffering and I assure you that I together with the governor we will ensure that an electric fence is erected," said Mulatya.

"However I would urge you to be patient for a little while like one and a half months until the next financial year. When I take the bill to assembly, I'm sure it will pass without objection and it will be included in the budget and we will have the fence," said Mulatya.

He said the electric wire will pass through Kyangosi, Mukusu, Ngetani up to Kisembeoni.

Early this week, residents decried invasion by elephants from the park where their crops were destroyed.

They called for local leaders to intervene on the issue citing that KWS was reluctant to help them.
