Over the last several months, Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o and his sister Risper Nyagoy have been locked in an inheritance row with their two nieces.
The two groups are fighting over among others, pieces of land and estates across the nation left by Nyong's father Shimei Nyong'o who did not leave a will behind.
The Nyong'o's have been trying to keep Kenneth Okudhe and Geoffrey Omondi who were reportedly taken in by the late Shimei after the death of their parents out of the inheritance list, resulting to unending court battles.
However, this is a wrong move on the Governor's side, considering that the latter is a professional and is apparently too rich already.
This only proves right the people who are of the opinion that he is stingy and selfish, a tittle not good for a man of his caliber.
At the same time, he is spending too much time that should have been used in serving the county concentrating on the ongoing case.
Therefore, it could come back to haunt him in the coming days and will be held accountable by the electorate should he not deliver in line with his mandate.
This also has an effect on the county, as no one will have any respect for a county whose leader cannot find a better way of solving differences.
Finally, basing on his placement as a top county boss and national figure, he will have it harder recovering from the humiliation should he lose the battle.
The Governor should save himself the possible embarrassment in the hands of the duo by either exiting the case or rooting for a private agreement.
