A middle-aged man died on Sunday evening following a grisly road accident which occurred along the Kisii-Igonga-Mogumo road.
The deceased identified as Onchoke Onchari was heading to Moguma market when he lost control of the motorbike he was riding, veered off the road and plunged into a culvert.
"Onchoke was going to Mogumo market to check on his ailing wife who was admitted at Mogumo private health centre. He lost control of the motorbike due to the high speed he was riding, veered off the road and plunged into the culvert which was recently build following the upgrade of Igonga-Mogumo road into bitumen standard," said Bomariba sub-location chief Benjamin Opanga.
The administrator said passersby who found Onchoke lying on the road took him to Nyamagundo Level Four Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
"The deceased has left behind a wife and three kids. His body was moved to Bosongo Hospital morgue in Kisii as burial arrangements commence," said the chief.
The chief raised concerns over cases of bodaboda riders speeding on the road, noting that the operators should exercise caution when using the road to avoid accidents.
He said speed bumps will be erected on the road in a bid to tame the cases of speeding.
