World men's marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge has expressed his desire to meet former United States President Barrack Obama.
Reacting to Obama's congratulatory message, Kipchoge noted that he was keen to meet the former President and discuss how to make the world a better place.
''Dear Mr. Obama, Thank you for your special words. In life we hope to inspire others. Thank you for inspiring me. It would be my greatest honour if we could meet, and discuss how we can make this world a running world. As a running world is a peaceful world,'' Kipchoge tweeted.
He made the remarks after Obama posted a tweet lauding him, and Brigid Kosgei for their marathon milestones.
In his message, Obama applauded the two for putting Kenya, and the African continent on the map, adding that the wins showed that everything is possible.
''Yesterday, marathoner Eliud Kipchoge became the first ever to break two hours. Today in Chicago, Brigid Kosgei set a new women’s world record. Staggering achievements on their own, they’re also remarkable examples of humanity’s ability to endure—and keep raising the bar,'' wrote Obama.
Kosgei broke the world women's marathon record after running 2 hours, 14 minutes and 04 seconds during Sunday's Chicago marathon.
