While the DP, initially opposed of the report, has declared his full support, members of ODM, who had earlier declared support for it, now want some suggestions in the report reviewed.

Weda says that the DP appears to have thrown the ODM side off balance by backing the report, and they are now feeling that he must have seen something good in it, hence the change of heart.

He says that they expected him to oppose it, but have been shocked that his allies are now even calling for an immediate implementation.

"Raila's team expected Ruto to oppose the report, they think if Ruto is supporting the report then there must be something wrong with it, now they want a review, " he said on KBC English Service on Wednesday morning.

He noted that similarly, the report came as a disappointment to allies of Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta, given that some of the amendments they expected were not there.

According to Weda, the absence of things to do with a powerful Prime Minister and a parliamentary system are the causes behind the sudden u-turn.

"The president was even threatening people to support the report and then it turns out that it had nothing to do with what was expected. And when the Deputy President realized that what he was against is not there, he has decided to support it," he added.

Raila on Tuesday told Kenyans to prepare to once again engage the BBI taskforce, whose tenure has been prolonged, beginning next year.
