Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has added his voice to the ongoing debate over the story of Kakamega twins who were allegedly separated at birth at the Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
In a tweet on Friday, Khalwale requested the media and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to stop following up on the case.
He also said the separation of the twins was as a result of medical negligence.
He further noted that the twins, Sharon Mitekwa and Melon Lutenyo should remain together, as per the Luhya culture, while Mevis Imbaya should be allowed to go and live with her biological mother.
"The Kakamega twins saga was a clear case of midwife medical negligence. The DCI & the media should now get off this matter n let it rest. In our culture, the identical twins will remain together n the third girl will join her biological mother. Thank u DNA experts (sic)," Khalwale tweeted.
Despite Khalwale's call to end this story, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has vowed to continue pursuing this case as the hospital could not provide documents to show the mode of delivery, the date of delivery and other details needed.
The girls had forgiven the hospital and even declared that they would not press charges for the damages done in their lives.
