Deputy President William Ruto on Friday gave Sh100,000 to Nyamira Primary School students for their lunch, Jubilee Youth leader Ben Mogaka has said.
Dr Ruto, who was touring the county for the first time since 2017, had made an impromptu stopover in the school, located few meters from Nyamira town.
While it could not be immediately established how much exactly Ruto had given, Jubilee Youth Leader Ben Mogaka said Dr Ruto gave Sh100,000 to the school.
"It was nice having time with DP Ruto in Nyamira Primary School. He gave a donation of Sh100,000 for lunch. It's such humbling to have the DP around," he said.
According to him, the DP had not planned to land at the institution but made a decision when it emerged that he had to move closer to Nyamira town after landing at Nyaigesa.
"In fact, it's the DP who insisted that students are called for a brief address. Some of us thought he was heading straight to the town," added Nyaribo.
At Nyamira, Dr Ruto launched construction of West Mugirango Technical Training Institute before unveiling constituency offices. He also attended a fundraiser for Nyamira Catholic church.
He was accompanied by Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango), Jerusha Momanyi (Nyamira), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba) and Joash Nyamoko of North Mugirango.
