Residents of Nyabiuto village in Kisii County were on Tuesday treated to a rare spectacle after a 16-year-old boy stripped naked after he was nabbed with five rolls of bhang.
It is alleged that the suspect identified as Pope Masese dropped out of school in class five before he began engaging in the illegal activity of smoking bhang.
Area Nyumba Kumi chairman Sylvanus Onsarigo said he received a tip-off from residents informing him that Masese was smoking bhang inside a house that is under construction.
"We were notified by members of the public who spotted the suspect entering into the house where he was smoking bhang. Nyumba Kumi officials rushed to the scene and found the suspect with the rolls of bhang," said Onsarigo.
"When he saw us he removed all his clothes and started running like a mad man. We managed to arrest him and covered him with a leso before we forced him to put on his clothes," he said.
Confirming the incident, Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi said the suspect was taken to the Kisii Central Police Station.
"The suspect is in custody and he will help police identify other bhang dealers before he is taken to court on Thursday," he said.
