This comes only a day after the party leader and opposition boss Raila Odinga who was also implicated in the saga weighed in, saying that he was actually the whistleblower.

Speaking in Kisii on Friday, the former Prime Minister admitted that he knows something about the trade and even warned the buyer, a member of the Dubai royal family, that he was being duped.

Etale now says that this marks the beginning of the real issue, and Raila's entry into the debate will soon see the truth come out  and the culprits mentioned in due time.

"I exposed the Gold scammers using a fake Matiang'i Raila Odinga says. Sasa ndiyo mwanzo wa ngoma... wahusika wakuu mtawajua sasa (that's the beginning of the debate, you will now know the culprits)," he wrote on Friday.

Raila's name had also been dragged into the mess, thanks to a recent leaked audio conversation between Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and a man said to be a representative of the buyer.

The matter has since been taken over by Raila's critics allied to Deputy President William Ruto, who have been using the issue as a political weapon against him.
