Opposition chief Raila Odinga is undoubtedly on his way out of active politics, as a result, his growing age and possible discouragement due to his inability to make it to the presidency.
Consequently, he could soon begin looking around and weighing his choices regarding who is best placed to take over his seat as the Luo Nyanza political boss, as he steps out.
And in politics where people mostly make moves promising to benefit them in the future, he could drop all the politician considered his allies to go for a member of his family.
In such a scenario, his only option would be his daughter Rosemary Odinga who showed her desire for politics when she declared her interest for the Kibra parliamentary seat.
She, however, dropped out due to illness ahead of the 2017 polls, but seems to be on the right path on matters discovery and could make another attempt in 2022.
Raila seems to have no other option, as his remaining children are yet to show any interest in politics while his elder brother Oburu Oginga has twice in a row been beaten in the Bondo race.
Should he present her and the people accept her, both will have set the record, Raila for having made the first female kingpin in the nation and Rosemary as the first female kingpin in Kenya.
It is worth noting that none of the Kenyan communities has ever fully rallied behind a woman as a block, even all the current tribal and regional kingpins being male.
Its only in 2007 that a section of Ukambani region followed Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu who was then part of Raila's Pentagon alliance which unsuccessfully tried to unseat President Mwai Kibaki.
Raila will also have succeeded in ensuring that the Odinga family becomes the longest-leading community in Kenya since 1963 when his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga took over.
In the instance that Rosemary takes over in 2022 or sooner later, the Oginga family will have held the position uninterrupted for 60 years.
He will also have given the nation her possible first future female president, considering that members of the family have always gotten very close to the top seat, only to land when almost there.
