President Uhuru Kenyatta has suddenly found his way into the hearts of the Luo people and the entire Luo Nyanza region.
The Head of State who was initially viewed as a rival by the people, resulting from his political enmity with opposition chief Raila Odinga in the last two elections, has since managed to overturn the situation in his own favor.
This began with his truce with Odinga on March 9, which reduced the hostility between the two and their supporters.
However, with the emergence of reports that he is considering reshuffling his cabinet to create room for opposition nominees, Uhuru has further become a darling in Luo Nyanza.
This, if implemented, will see opposition leader, and Luo Nyanza political kingpin nominate a number of his own ministers into the cabinet, bringing to an end the feeling of exclusion the region has been having.
It will as well make them feel closer to the nation’s top leadership through Odinga whose four previous shots at the presidency have all been futile.
Also, the region which is still keen to have the former Prime Minister occupy the presidential seat some day, will be more assured that he might realize the dream in the approaching 2022 general elections.
This is because with a section of his people in the government, Raila will only have to ensure that they perform well and will use that to convince the voters, unlike when he is completely out and without any development record to brag about.
Finally, it demonstrates to members of the region that they have a friend in the top most leader in the nation, despite completely refusing to grant him votes in the two previous elections.
