Ousted Ugenya parliamentarian Chris Karan has vowed to give his rival David Ochieng' a 'defeat of his life' in the approaching by-election.
Karan's win in the August 2017 election was nullified by the Supreme Court a week ago following a successful petition by Ochieng' whom according to 2017 IEBC poll results beat in the race.
With the campaigns for the looming rerun having taken the centre stage in the sub-county of the larger Siaya County, Karan now says that he will use it to put the former lawmaker in his place.
Speaking on Friday, during one of his rallies, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate refuted his earlier loss to Ochieng'.
“Even those days he (Ochieng) was in ODM, he never won any elections. I always defeated him at the party nominations. I don’t know why he thinks he can he defeat me now," he was quoted by the Standard.
"This is going to be the last election he will ever compete in, I will kill his political career,” said Karan who opposition leader Raila Odinga and ODM is backing.
The party, under the leadership of Raila, said that it will not hold any primaries in the by-election, but will instead issue Karan with a direct ticket.
Ochieng' who is vying on the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG), had beat him in 2013 before the 2017 turn of events.
The Supreme Court annulled the election after Ochieng' raised concerns of election malpractices, including the use of malicious propaganda against him by the ODM team.
