The newly introduced police uniforms have been rejected by a section of leaders from the Gusii region.
Some claimed that Kenyans were expecting police reforms and not police uniforms.
"They could have reformed the police force and not changing uniforms. The new uniforms resembles that of undisciplined Ugandan police officers," said Manga ward MCA Enock Ogori.
Isaac Motari, the Kisii County Jubilee youth secretary general said the government could have considered improving the welfare of police officers and not changing uniforms.
"This is not what we were expecting as reforms in the police force. Police officers will now turn to be goons stealing from people," he said.
Victor Swanya said insecurity will be on the rise after the government ordered police officers to rent houses at places of own choice.
"Change of uniform and ordering police officers to look for their own houses will increase insecurity because the officers will turn to be criminals harassing and robbing people," he noted.
