More leaders have come out against a section of leaders drawn from the Mt Kenya region over their recent tribal allegations.
Led by ex-Runyenjes lawmaker Cecily Mbarire, the group of over 70 politicians earlier this week claimed that the region deserves more resources, adding that it boasts of over 6 million voters.
In a meeting in Naivasha, the group further decried marginalisation, accusing the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government of sidelining it despite contributing to 60 per cent of the nation's GDP.
"The issues on the table were the high expectations of the six million voters from our region. Our desire is for the Jubilee leadership to fulfil the promises it made to our supporters," Mbarire was quoted by the Standard.
However, speaking on Radio Maisha's 'Bunge La Maisha' on Thursday morning, Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi bashed the caucus of pulling the nation back in its attempts to overcome the tribalism menace.
He further accused the team of misleading the nation, noting that the statistics are wrong as they are not based on any recognised research.
"Ni aibu sana kuwaona viongozi hawa waliochaguliwa kuwakilisha wakenya wanajihusisha na mambo ya kikabila. Pia hesabu hizo wanazozitumia wamezitoa wapi maana hakuna hesabu iliyofanywa karibuni kubainisha idadi ya watu.
(This is purely a tribal argument which is as well misleading as there has not been any recent census to determine the number of Kenyans in any part of the nation)," he said.
