Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has called on asked detectives to speed up investigations into the mysterious murder of Monica Kimani, the 28-year-old businesswoman.

Kihika said the killers must never walk free.

Speaking to journalists in Nakuru on Saturday, the senator said the slain businesswoman did not deserve to die in such a manner.

"Detectives should not leave any stone untouched as they investigate Kimani's killers, " she said.

Kimani was buried at her family home in Gilgil on Friday.

Her lifeless body was found at her Kilimani apartment in Nairobi with her neck slit open, body dumped into a running bathtub.

Police have arrested a key suspect, Joseph Irungu, in connection with the mysterious murder.

Irungu is being held at Muthaiga police station.

Detectives are also holding media personality Jacque Maribe in connection with the murder.

Maribe is said to be Irungu's fiance and is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.

The journalist was questioned before being arrested on Saturday night.
