Kisumu Senator Fred Otieno Outa has urged residents of the Lakeside county to come out in large numbers and give President Uhuru Kenyatta a rousing welcome when he visits the area later this month.
The Head of State will be in Kisumu on December 13, 2018, to lead the official launch of the pilot phase of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
Speaking in Kisumu West over the weekend, Senator Outa said that the President will be accompanied by ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.
“They are coming together because of the handshake. Come out in large numbers and welcome them,” he said.
The pilot phase of the UHC program is being carried out in four counties namely: Kisumu, Machakos, Isiolo and Nyeri.
In Kisumu, registration for UHC cards was to end on Friday before being extended to the 5th of this month.
A statement from Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s press unit on Friday evening indicated that the exercise was extended due to public demand.
“All you need for registration is your Identity card and copies of birth certificates for children. From 3rd December to 5th December, 2018, find Kisumu UHC agents at the Huduma Centre, Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground and in all public hospitals,” said the statement.
