Despite acknowledging ODM MPs who supported controversial Finance Bill, Raila Odinga may have after all not fully supported the bill.

To persuade defiant MPs who had opposed increment of VAT on petroleum products among other taxation proposals, the two hosted MPs from their camps separately on Tuesday.

But at a funeral in Siaya on Saturday, ODM Secretary General, who had also attended the party's PG where the resolution to back the bill with conditions was reached, openly condemned Speaker of the National Assembly for 'rigging' MPs in Raila's presence.

"Even a toddler could tell that Nays had many votes that ayes yet the speaker announced the opposite.

"We cannot allow such open rigging. The voice of people must be respected all the time," said Sifuna, further raising questions as to whether ODM party supported Uhuru's proposals.

For the past one week, Raila has been on the receiving end with supporters and some legislators accusing him of betrayal.

Sifuna's remarks was attributed to a secret official party position of Raila despite backing the bill.

"Sifuna speaks for Raila and that is clear he may have opposed the tax changes secretly," said Gideon Mamboleo.
