The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has reiterated the government's commitment towards the ongoing nationwide teachers’ training on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Speaking on Wednesday after touring Heshima and Jamhuri Primary schools in Nakuru West and Nakuru East respectively, TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia said the training will go on as planned.
Macharia asked teachers not to be distracted by individuals against the rollout of the CBC program.
She said close to 100 per cent turnout has been achieved across the country despite a few cases of disruptions in some areas by some people who have an ill motive.
The TSC boss said action will be taken against those who will disrupt the training once they have been documented and established.
“We shall be finalizing the report and take action against anyone who will disrupt the training,” she said.
Macharia further said the training is free and those charging teachers will be punished.
“We have received reports some of our officers are asking teachers for Sh1,000 each to attend the training. This is criminal and those doing it will be disciplined. The government has released Sh500 million to cater for teachers’ meals, transport and accommodation,” she said.
Teachers in several regions have defied their union officials to attend training on the new curriculum as Education CS George Magoha vowed not to back down on its implementation.
