This comes only a day after Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi raised alarm, saying that the debt is slowly getting out of hand.

Speaking on Wednesday, Weda argued that Uhuru has been unable to pick the right people to head his cabinet, taking issue with National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich.

He said that the CS has been unable to properly advise the President on matters credit, plunging the government further into debt and subjecting citizens to bigger tax burdens for repayment.

"Uhuru has the wrong people as his ministers. The Treasury man (Rotich) is never concentrated, he is either answering to questions at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), issuing threats or rushing here and there with documents," he said.

The commentator was speaking on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation Show on Wednesday morning.

He noted that the CS should have by now come up with proposals to help in dealing with the worsening debt and bail Uhuru's leadership out of the difficult situation it has found itself in.

He challenged Uhuru to consider bringing to force other means of addressing the situation, including seeking the parliament's help in suppressing runaway corruption in Kenya.

Weda argued that the nation has been having it hard repaying its debt because most of it is lost to the corrupt, and there is need for the establishment of fiscal policies as a remedy.

"This corruption now needs to be desalted by using fiscal policies and not the courts alone," he said.

"Management of the debt should also be relooked because only a part of it is used. If all of it was used for the right purpose, then, the situation would have been different," he added.

According to Mudavadi who was speaking in Nairobi on Tuesday, the debt is currently approaching Sh6 trillion.
