Series of squabbles between MCAs and County speakers have rocked the country for the past few months even as senators hinted a possibility of strengthening the law to set the bar high for grounds of removal.
Already, Nairobi County and Homa Bay MCAs have kicked out their respective speakers with those of Kisumu and Bungoma surviving by whisker.
But in Nyamira Speaker Moffat Teya's tenure hangs on a thread after it emerged that Governor John Nyagarama met MCAs to orchastrate his removal.
"We went to meet the governor as patron of the ODM party. We did not discuss the removal of the speaker," said nominated MCA Carolyne Mogere.
But a source within GPS said removal of the speaker, Majority Leader Duke Masira and few MCAs from top committees was discussed in depth.
In a statement, Teya blamed his woes on standoff in itemised budget which he says the executive is not willing to implement.
"All these things to leave them to God. Some forces are against itemised budget because it seals corruption loopholes," he said.
Impeccable sources within the assembly indicates that a faction led by former deputy speaker Duke Omoti has been meeting to discuss Teya's ouster.
The move is said to be enjoying support from the governor, who believes that the speaker is behind stalemate in the county.
