Reports of Buzeki planning to ditch DP Ruto first emerged on Labor Day when he was among politicians from RiftValley who held a private meeting in Nairobi

The meeting was attended by Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny and his Moiben counterpart Silas Tiren who are seen as against Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

Buzeki was also later quoted by several local dailies saying he was contemplating his own political path ahead of 2022.

Speaking at Jua Kali in Turbo constituency on Friday, the tycoon dismissed reports of leaving DP Ruto's camp noting that he only met Kutuny for lunch.

“Someone said because I was seen taking lunch with Kutuny then I have joined him. But let me ask you people, so if Kutuny appears here should I run away? How do you avoid someone who has his own legs and can go anywhere he wants to? So if Kutuny arrives here now what would we do? Will we run away from him? Let’s not spread lies about one another. Don’t put words into my mouth that I never said,” Buzeki said in a video shared on Facebook

The former Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant lost to governor Jackson Mandago in 2017 and has been termed the front runner for the seat in 2022.
