The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Ugenya and Embakasi South constituency by-elections conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Friday.
The Raila Odinga-led Orange party had been rated as the favourite to win the two by-elections owing to its dominance in the two areas.
However, things went wrong for the ODM in the Friday by-elections that were marred by allegations of voter intimidation and bribery.
In Embakasi South, Wiper's candidate, Julius Mawathe won the by-election garnering 21, 628 to defeat Ishard Sumra of ODM who managed a paltry 7,988 votes.
In Ugenya, the script was the same as David Ochieng clinched the by-election by garnering 18, 730 votes.
Ochieng defeated Chris Karan of ODM who managed to garner 14,307 votes.
After suffering defeat in Ugenya and Embakasi South, ODM's focus now shifts to the Wajir West by-election.
ODM will be hoping to redeem its political image by clinching the Wajir West by-election set for April 25.
However, it is not going to be easy for Raila in Wajir West as his party faces stiff competition from Jubilee Party.
The Wajir West by-election has been taunted as a two-horse-race between Mohamed Yussuf of ODM and Ahmed Kolosh of Jubilee Party.
On Friday, Kolosh met with President Uhuru Kenyatta and other party officials to plan the campaigns.
Garissa Township MP Aden Duale says that North Eastern is a Jubilee Party zone.
Duale has exuded confidence that Jubilee will clinch the Wajir West seat.
The seat was declared vacant after the Supreme Court nullified Kolosh election on grounds that his victory in 2017 was marred with errors.
Kolosh ditched Raila's ODM party and joined Jubilee after his victory was nullified.
Other candidates eyeing the Wajir West by-election are Ali Noor Abdi (Labour Party of Kenya), Ibrahim Mohamed (KANU) and Abbas Nunow (Agano Party).
