Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has refuted claims that he and other MPs allegedly took bribes to shoot down the report on contraband sugar that was tabled in Parliament on Thursday.
Duale says that he is not aware of bribery claims as the media is reporting.
The Garissa lawmaker said that anyone with evidence of MPs taking bribes to reject the report should take it to investigative agencies.
"I did not take bribe or witnesses other members being given money as most of the media has been reporting," he said as quoted by a local daily on Saturday.
Duale said that claims of bribery are serious and it will be better to allow independent investigative agencies to probe the matter.
Duale said that the integrity of Parliament has to be maintained, adding that those who will be implicated in the bribery claims should be dealt with accordingly.
There are allegations that some MPs were bribed with Sh10,000 to shoot down the sugar report on Thursday.
Some of the MPs who witnessed the alleged bribing say that some of their colleagues lined up to take the bribes.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa alleged that he was offered a bribe but he rejected it.
Similar claims have been made by Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati.
A section of leaders is now calling on investigative agencies to probe the matter and take action.
Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi says that the matter will be investigated.
Two weeks ago, a local daily in its investigative report exposed allegations of bribery at the Parliament.
The daily claimed that MPs demand as low as Sh10,000 to write favourable departmental reports.
