The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has revealed counties where county officials are demanding hefty bribes in exchange for services.
Officials from Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties top the list of bribe-seekers as citizens are asked to pay money in order to get public services.
Wajir County top the list of high chances of bribery followed by Tana River, Mandera, Kakamega, Busia, Narok, Machakos, Mombasa, Kisii, and Homabay.
48.8 percent of residents from Garissa County paid to hasten service delivery followed by Isiolo at 42.4 percent, Elgeyo Marakwet (41.9 percent), Kajiado (40.7 percent) and Siaya at 39.7 percent.
In the report, Mandera residents paid the highest bribes in the country with an average bribe of Sh35,440 followed by Kisumu with Sh26,762, while Busia had Sh18,866.61, Nyamira Sh10,967, Muranga 9,297 and Nairobi at Sh8,916.
90 percent of Wajir residents paid bribes in order to obtain government services, Meru came second with 88.5 percent while Trans Nzoia was third with 83.3 percent.
The anti-corruption agency further revealed that the highest average bribe one has to pay in order to secure a tender was Sh102,921 while people seeking employment had to pay an average of Sh28,606.99.
