Ever since the fake gold scam was brought to the public domain, Deputy President William Ruto has been constantly attacking former Prime minister Raila Odinga and linking him to the scandal.
The leaked video mentioned President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i. However, DP Ruto's attacks have been targeting the opposition leader.
There has been a general feeling that the DP has not been very comfortable with the handshake between Uhuru and Raila. Jubilee has been divided into two groups since the two supremos reconciled.
The 'Tangatanga' side led by DP Ruto that generally seem not convinced with Raila's presence in the handshake and the 'Kieleweke' team that look comfortable with Raila.
On Sunday, Ruto said he negotiated AU job for Raila but then bashed him for what he termed 'prospecting minerals' in the job. Raila, through his spokesperson Dennis Onyango denied Ruto's involvement in the deal.
Here is the logic, when a man is married to two wives, its normal for the first wife to feel jealous and insecure of the second wife. If the first wife then wants to be in full control yet the husband seems to allow the second wife to interfere whenever she wants, she will try to come up with something to get the control back.
This is what is happening with DP Ruto, trying to defend Uhuru and saying how Uhuru has been good to Raila yet Raila wants to tarnish his name.
So Ruto looks like he wants Uhuru to abandon Raila and focus on their relationship in Jubilee that includes supporting him for presidency come 2022.
