Many Kenyans have been angered by how corruption is slowly turning into a norm in Kenya.
A section feel that the President is not doing enough to end the vice and have decided to take the matter into their own hands.
In a letter seen by Hivisasa, dated 28th February 2019 addressed to Nairobi Central Police station, a group is seeking security for at least 100,000 Kenyans who will be taking part in the peaceful demonstrations.
The protest has been scheduled for Nairobi on 8th March 2019.
"We hereby notify you of the above peaceful demonstration on the stated date to express displeasure on the current rampant corruption in the country and call for the resignation of all cabinet secretaries and public officers implicated on any of the recent Corruption scandals, " the letter reads in part.
Here is a photo of the letter;
According to the letter, corruption has denied the citizens quality services and led to economic depression.
The demonstration will demand the recovery of lost money through corruption from the assets of corruption beneficiaries and barring such individuals from holding public offices or doing business with the government.
Article 37 of the Kenya constitution allows peaceful and unarmed demonstrations, therefore the letter wants the police to provide security during the said procession/demonstration to ensure criminal elements do not take advantage of the situation to cause harm.
All Kenyans are invited to attend the said demonstration to make it successful.
