Kitayama said it was well in Jubilee until Uhuru and Raila met in state house early last year and agreed on the famous ‘handshake’.

The Member of Parliament revealed that being a member of Jubilee Party, they are yet to understand the ‘deep discussion’ Raila and Uhuru had in state house which has not been made public.

“As for now as a Jubilee Member of Parliament we still believe what President Uhuru told us during the last campaigns that Uhuru will lead the country for ten years and Ruto will also go another ten years,” Kitayama told the press at Kegonga in Kuria East when he met education stakeholders on Wednesday.

The vocal Jubilee lawmaker said they believe the President and his Deputy are honest with each other and they will not break the verbal agreement.

Kitayama feared that the ‘handshake’ which has been praised for bringing down the political temperatures in the country could break the ruling coalition after it emerged that section of opposition leaders celebrate every ‘crack’ in Jubilee.

The legislature said the small communities in Kenya supported the Uhuru-Ruto led coalition after they united the Kalenjin and Kikuyu communities following 2007 Post Election Violence.

He said the agreement between Uhuru and Ruto united Kenyans more than any other leadership in the Kenyan history.

‘We as small communities supported the Uhuru-Ruto led Jubilee coalition. We believed it was founded on the honest ground with the motive of uniting Kenyans more than before,’ Marwa added.

Kitayama, however, agreed that the ‘handshake’ has helped bring unity among Kenyans after the heated 2018 general elections but blamed a section of leaders who want to dipolarise the country for their own selfish political gains.
