A 14-year-old girl is fighting for her life at Nyangena hospital in Kisii County after she consumed poison protesting her mother'decision to beat her when she found her with a man in bed.
It is alleged that the victim was busted with a man identified as Makori in bed engaging in sexual intercourse.
"The victim sneaked into Makori's house in Nyabiosi village, Kisii County where they were caught having sex. The man escaped from the house abandoning the minor," said a community policing chairman Moriango Okeyo.
Mr Okeyo said upon reaching home, the minor's mother Stella Gesare canned the victim thoroughly.
"The minor after receiving a thorough beating, tricked her mother, went to a shop where she bought poison and consumed," said Okeyo.
He said the man is at large but, he is being traced.
"The victim who is in class eight at a local primary school was rushed to a hospital where she is fighting for her life. Any member of the public who will spot the suspect in the village should report to us," he noted.
According to Okeyo, the suspect completed his secondary education last year and is waiting to join college.
