Strained relationship between NASA and Jubilee could reignite following the arrest of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu over graft allegations on Tuesday.
Middle in the confusion are lawyers perceived to be allies of opposition leader Raila Odinga, who has portrayed himself as anti-graft crusader.
But Borabu MP Ben Momanyi and Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mogeni have dismissed claims that representing Mwilu amounts to impunity.
"Besides our political perceptions, we have a career. We have a right to defend a client as long as he or she is comfortable with us," said the Wiper legislator.
Senator Okong'o was even more candid, dismissing the allegations as 'stray and misguided'.
"Those are misguided claims. We are lawyers and nothing bars us from representing clients of our choice. This applies irrespective of our political affiliation."
The first time senator, who also served in the legal team that overturned President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory last year in Supreme Court, added that he has before represented a host of Jubilee politicians.
Mwilu's case caught the nation in shock as the fight against graft knocked in the high profile offices.
