The mother of slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno, Melida Auma has expressed confidence that her daughter will get justice.
Auma who spoke to journalists minutes after Migori Governor Okoth Obado was remanded at Industrial Area said that she is satisfied with how police and the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji are handling the case.
The emotional Auma said that what she wants to see is justice for her daughter (Sharon) and her unborn baby.
“We only want justice for my daughter and her baby nothing but justice,” she told reporters outside Milimani courts on Monday.
Sharon Otieno's family had earlier expressed concerns over their security with claims that the slain student’s uncle was attacked over the weekend by unknown people.
According to confidential sources, proper measures are being taken to guarantee the safety of the family and possible witnesses as the murder case starts.
Governor Obado pleaded not guilty of killing Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby.
High Court Judge Jessie Lessit remanded the governor at the Industrial Area prison and will appear in court on Tuesday for his bail hearing.
The DPP has since asked the police to pursue all other people linked to the student’s murder.
Haji in a statement on Monday said that all people adversely mentioned in the murder must be sought and arraigned in court.
