Deputy President William Ruto will remain restless as long as elected leaders from Kalenjin-dominated counties in Rift Valley continue to support Baringo Senator Gideon Moi for president.

The leader's firm commitment to Senator Moi bid for State House in 2022 was on affirmed on Saturday when three of them including a KANU national leader welcomed Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho when he paid a courtesy call to former President and Senator Moi's father Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home in Nakuru.

Those who were on standby to welcome Joho included Moiben MP Silas Tiren, Tiaty MP Willaim Kassait Kamket and KANU Secretary General Nick Salat.

Although other leaders supporting Gideon were no where to be seen, the three- Kassait, Salat and Tiren were said to have adequately represented their absent colleagues- Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills) and Kang'ong'o Bowen (Marakwet East).

The five leaders are reason the DP is not finding it easy to campaign in specific electoral zones of the vote-rich Rift Valley.

When Joho landed in Kabarak, Kamket, Salat and Tiren walked step by step with both the former Kisauni MP and Senator Moi as they made their way to former President Moi's house.

What still puzzles many is the fact that these so called 'un-influential' leaders from Rift Valley have easy access to Kabarak that the DP himself- a man many members of the Kalenjin community see as their 2022 'darling'.

Besides the five leaders, there is obviously Gideon Moi himself who is seen as a great threat to Ruto's bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022. Gideon, has however, not publicly declared interest for the seat.
