National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi is now being accused of poor leadership, following corruption claims within the legislative house.
This comes amid revelations from a section of parliamentarians that some of them were offered a bribe to shoot down the contraband sugar probe report on Thursday.
Speaking on Radio Jambo on Monday evening, Mathare Member of Parliament Antony Oluoch termed the same as saddening and dishonourable of the lawmakers.
He also noted that Muturi is also to blame for the embarrassing situation, adding that the shameful scenario has tainted his image.
"Ata speaker lazima ahuzunike (the Speaker should also be worried), you cannot remain honourable while leading a dishonourable house," he said.
He further claimed that the situation was inevitable, alleging that some of the lawmakers are working in cohorts with the sugar cartels.
According to Oluoch, the conduct demonstrates that the majority of the parliamentarians have interests in the case and couldn't, however, take a negative move.
"There's too much interest within the house hence their decision to shoot it down," he added.
Kimilili lawmaker Didmus Barasa on Thursday claimed that Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi embarked on a bribery spree to influence the leaders.
Similar sentiments have since been made by his Bahati counterpart Kimani Ngunjiri.
The lawmakers are said to have been offered 10, 000 shillings to dance along.
