Veronica Nduku Ngwambu, a resident of Kwa Ndolo, in Yatta sub-county, is said to have dug the grave after her only son died last year but has been unable to raise hospital bill amounting Ksh 200,000 to bury her son.

Due to the huge bill, her son's body has not been released for burial and therefore she has been living with the already dug grave.

Kenyans took the matter to social media claiming that the area has leaders but they are just too ignorant.

"Yatta has DG Maliti and Charles Kilonzo how come they can't intervene on the matter?"  one user posted on Facebook.

The matter has raised concerns among the residents as to why leaders can ignore such a problem despite being elected by the people.

"The neighbours are always scared away by the huge bill and that is why they have not intervened, therefore urging their leaders to help," said one neighbour.

Officials from the office of the Governor have so far been sent to sort out the issue.
