President Uhuru Kenyatta's silence on the ongoing wrangles within Jubilee Party has caught many in surprise even as party Vice Chair David Murathe continued with his onslaught against Deputy President William Ruto.

At the eve of the New Year, Uhuru snubbed questions with regard to Jubilee affairs, only shifting his focus on the economy of the country and the handshake with Raila Odinga.

"There is no need to talk about succession. 2022 is far away from today. We should be concerned ourselves with the economy of the nation," he said.

Murathe, a close ally of the president, on Saturday yet again insisted that the DP should retire with Uhuru, adding that he might be forced to seek Supreme Court advisory on 148 (5).

In his speech at Kefa Tuju's funeral at Rarieda, Murathe represented the president further reaffirming that he could have been speaking from the president's script.

"Let me bring to you condolences from H. E Uhuru Kenyatta, Muhoho Kenyatta and other ministers. The president and the Tuju family are an item and he was to be here," he said.

The DP is fighting internal wrangles within the party he helped form and early last week, he insisted that he's ready to face his critics in nominations.

Political pundit Gideon Mamboleo insists that the unity between Uhuru and Ruto was swallowed by the handshake between the former and Raila Odinga.

"Ruto should chat his own political path. He is no longer an asset to the president. He must realise that and play his cards well. Things ain't working to his advantage."
