According to Justice Githinji, Kinuthia, if released, may be in danger and may also interfere with prosecution witnesses who would testify against him.

“The court has denied the accused bail because the case is of public interest and his release might interfere with the witnesses,” said the Judge.

“The accused also knows the friends of the deceased who are also witnesses in the case,” he added.

Kinuthia is accused of killing Wangeci outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town on March 9, 2019, using an axe.

Through his lawyer, Mbiyu Kamau, Kinuthia wanted the court to release him on bail on the grounds that he would not interfere with evidence and that he could follow the court proceedings.

He has since denied killing the 6th year Moi University medical student.

Mention for the case has been set for July 17th.
