A section of Garissa leaders has praised Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji for his purge on corruption and organised crime.
Led by Garissa Township MP Aden Duale, the leaders asked DPP Haji to continue the crackdown on corruption.
The leaders said that Kenyans have confidence in DPP Haji and are behind him in the war against corruption.
"We are happy that DPP Haji has brought hope in the fight against corruption and we urge him not to spare anyone linked to graft," Ijara MP Sophia Abdi Noor said on Saturday.
Noor said that corruption is the greatest obstacle to realisation of development.
The Ijara lawmaker urged the DPP and other agencies involved in the war against graft to focus more on the recovery of stolen money.
"As the national government we will ensure agencies involved in the war against graft get adequate resources to fight the vice, " Duale said.
Duale said that DPP Haji's office was spared in the budgetary cuts approved under the Finance Bill 2018 that is now law.
The Garissa MP further said that the government will work to ensure more resources are given to the agencies.
"DPP Haji should not loosen on the fight against graft and go for all people linked to corruption whether they are big or small," Garissa Women Representative Anab Subow said.
The leaders were speaking in Fafi constituency on Saturday.
DPP Haji has been receiving praise over his purge on graft.
In the recent months since he took office, Haji has taken top government official's to court over corruption.
Haji says he is fearless in the war against graft.
The DPP says his office is independent and does not take instructions from anyone.
