'Conge', as she is commonly referred to, has been ailing for a while now, with her conditions said to be deteriorating day after day.

Kenyans on social media were left angry lot early this week, after a video showing the once hard-hitting boxing champion in a bad state.

It elicited angry reactions from many Kenyans, who accused the government of neglecting the star, who was once Kenya's shining armour.

The cry seems to have gotten the attention of Sonko, who is known to be compassionate about sports and sportswomen.

This is not the first time Sonko is coming to the rescue of sportsmen/teams, having bailed out the likes of Gor Mahia during their financial struggles.

Early last week, the governor helped the national amputee soccer team to travel to Mexico to take part in the World Cup after the government failed to provide the required infrastructure.
