Wanbugu an anti-Deputy President William Ruto physically engaged Ruare MCA Paul Kanyari, over what appears like their differing stands on the DP and his 2022 presidential ambitions.

Kanyari leads a section of area MCAs who have declared full support for Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, which saw the two politicians engage in a fist fight, under the disguise if development.

It began when the MP's supporters disrupted Kanyari's speech at the functiona held at Nyeri Main Transport Terminus, with one of them attempting to grab the microphone from him.

This culminated in a shouting match between the two leaders as they hurled insults at each other and later into a fight.

In an interview after the clash, the youthful MP accused the MCA and four others of undermining his projects and sabotaging development initiatives in the area.

He said that the latest scenario being last week when they disrupted his meeting with stakeholders, where he was lobbying for extra money for road construction.

“Last week, they disrupted a meeting where stakeholders had been invited by a roads agency. They did not appreciate the fact that the government had set aside funds for 600 metres of the road while I was lobbying for more money,” he was quoted by the Nation.

However, the MCA dismissed the claims, accusing the MP of spending all his time politicking, and scaring the DP away, resulting in the slow development progress in the area.

"Other constituencies like Mathira and Mukurwe-ini have more kilometres of roads being tarmacked, compared with Nyeri Town constituency. He is fighting the person sent by the President to bring projects to us,” said Kanyari.

Wanbugu founded and leads the anti-Ruto Kieleweke Jubilee Party faction.
