Wangari does not own a church building and preaches her gospel on the streets of Nairobi.

The street preacher as she is famously referred to is also not new to controversy.

In June, Wangari was arrested, charged in court and handed a one-year probation sentence for causing disturbance in the city.

She was charged with disturbance as she attempted to seek audience with Interior CS Fred Matiang’i at his Harambee House office in Nairobi.

But who is Jemima Wangari Waruinge?

The self-proclaimed prophetess has been preaching on Nairobi streets and majorly at Nairobi’s ambassador hotel for the last 10 years now.

The 45-year-old prophetess is known and feared for prophesizing death of prominent Kenyans especially politicians.

In 2012, Wangari caused fear when she prophesied that death of two prominent politicians in a helicopter crash.

Among her strange prophecies include helicopter crashes that has several times killed prominent politicians.

She prophesied about the 2007/2008 post-election violence and also the Nakumat Downtown fire that claimed 30 lives in 2009.

The city prophetess is feared by Nairobians and no one wants to cross her way.

The prophetess says that she inherited the prophesy from her late mother.

Wangari who preaches in Kiswahili and Kikuyu says that majority of her prophesies are yet to come but will soon manifest.

“My key agenda is to deliver Nairobians and Kenyans from the evil darkness by showing them the light,” the controversial preacher says.
